Teaching and Assessment

RMIT English Worldwide offers English language programs which help each person learn to the best of his or her ability. Before study begins, we assess students' English language proficiency using a comprehensive placement test to find the best class for each student.

We believe that the best approach to teaching English is to facilitate student-centered learning and at the same time, help students to develop the independent learning skills they need to keep learning after they leave. RMIT English Worldwide provides the language, facilities, support and opportunities to help students become successful and self-directed learners of English.

Our commitment to academic quality includes using books and e-learning packs professionally and specifically designed for our student group, as well as a wide range of supplementary resources, including computer-assisted language learning. RMIT English Worldwide students also have access to a range of other multi-media packages to help them learn during and after classes.

Our course assessment is both informal and formal. Students' progress is monitored informally with regular homework and class activities. Formal assessment occurs with tests, projects and other planned activities. Tests take place in most courses at the end of the first module of study, Mid Course Assessment (MCA), and at the end of the second module, End of Course Assessment (EOC). Both MCA and EOC testing involves assessment of the macro skills of Listening, Speaking ,Reading and Writing,  and .
