RMIT International University Vietnam

 

In 1998, RMIT University was invited by the Vietnamese government to establish a university in Vietnam and, by 2000, the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment had granted a licence to RMIT International University Vietnam to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate education, training and research in Vietnam.

RMIT International University Vietnam commenced teaching in Ho Chi Minh City in 2001 and in Hanoi in 2004. The University now has over 3000 students, including international students from 18 countries, such as USA, Germany, France, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, China, Korea and Australia.

Students are taught in English and awarded degrees from RMIT University in Australia, allowing them to receive an international education without leaving home. The degree programs are recognised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and audited by Australian Universities Quality Agency.

Students also have access to study opportunities at RMIT University in Australia, with places made available for Vietnamese students in exchange for RMIT University students travelling to study in Vietnam. The program gives RMIT Vietnam students the exciting and unique chance to participate in a truly international educational experience without the costs usually associated with overseas study.

The University has granted scholarships for study in the following fields:

  • Master of Education
  • Masters by Research
  • English Training for Health Workers
  • Undergraduate degrees
  • English language training

The University is also committed to undertaking research projects relevant to the economic and social development of Vietnam. Research has been initiated in the following areas: information technology, food technology and safety, and the control of infectious diseases and water.

RMIT Vietnam graduates are highly sought after, with a significant number of graduates employed by international and major Vietnamese companies. Other graduates have chosen to pursue further studies, embarking on Masters programs in USA, Japan and Australia.

Since 2003, the University has been awarded the "Golden Dragon Award" five times by the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade for excellence in education. RMIT Vietnam has also received awards for innovation and community service from the Australian Chamber of Commerce, and Certificates of Merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Ministry of Planning and Investment in Hanoi.

RMIT Vietnam was included in the '50 Best Employers in Vietnam' in 2006, a research initiative by Navigos Group, ACNielsen and Thanh Nien Newspaper.
