Where is the school located?
RMIT English Worldwide is located in the centre of Melbourne opposite the city campus of RMIT University. Students have easy access to public transport and a great range of shops and restaurants, as well as Melbourne's beautiful gardens and recreational facilities.
How do I apply for a course?
How long does it take to receive an offer after application?
You will receive your letter of offer 2 to 3 days following application and a formal course package offer 2 to 4 weeks following application depending on the type of course.
How can I get a Student Visa?
Once you have received your electronic Conditional Offer of Enrolment (eCOE), take the confirmation, the details of your course and your visa application to the nearest Diplomatic Mission (Embassy, High Commission, Consulate or Consulate-General) in your country. Note: Students from some countries may apply for an e-visa, check the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website for information [Link to www.immi.gov.au].
What is the shortest number of weeks I can study?
5 weeks.
Do I have to do exams?
Yes. Each level has an end of course assessment that students must pass to progress to the next level.
How long is my REW Certificate of Achievement valid for?
1 year.
Can I use it for entry to universities other than RMIT University?
Yes. REW Certificate of Achievement may be used for entry to other universities, on application.
Will classes be in the morning or the afternoon?
Classes are scheduled between 8 am and 9 pm. Class times may change every 5 weeks depending on students' level.
How many hours will I need to study per week?
If you are a full-time student you study for 20 hours per week in class, plus 5 hours per week of self-study. Part-time courses vary.
How many students are in a class?
The average class size is 16 students. The maximum number of students in each class is 18.
How do I get my OSHC (Medibank) card?
RMIT sends your OSHC (Medibank) card to REW and Student Services will distribute it to students during the first 2 weeks of the course.
Can I work during my course?
Students on a Student visa have permission to work and can apply for a tax file number. This will entitle them to work for 20 hours per week during. During holidays students are permitted to work full-time.
Does REW organise any after-class activities or events?
RMIT English Worldwide's Recreational Officer gives students information about where they can go and things they can do in their free time. A noticeboard lists events, sports, clubs and activities that students may be interested in and an online classroom informs students about extra language classes and special events happening around Melbourne.
Will I have access to email?
Yes, students can stay in touch with family and friends with free email access.
Which countries do REW students come from?
Students at RMIT English Worldwide come from over 50 countries worldwide including China, Brazil, Indonesia, Hong Kong, France, Turkey, Germany, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the Middle East.
How do I know which class is best for me?
If you have a current IELTS or TOEFL score or you have done a REW placement test in your agent's office, your score will determine your class. If not, you will be given an REW placement test on enrolment day.
How much money do I need to live in Australia?
In addition to your tuition fees, we recommend you have at least AUD$18,000 per year to support yourself during your study. Students from some countries are required by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to show they can support themselves financially for the duration of their course.
Are RMIT English Worldwide courses accredited?
RMIT English Worldwide is accredited by NEAS (National ELT Accreditation Scheme). It is also a member of English Australia and the University English Centres Australia (UECA).
