In June this year, the Oman Aircraft Control College (OACC) announced the graduation of 100 Air Traffic Controllers, all of whom undertook REW's Aviation English Program. As a result of collaboration between the Omani Ministry of Defence, BAE Systems and REW, the ATC trainees were the most recent cohort to complete our program, which has been running since 2005. An REW Trainer was sent to Oman in March to deliver the General English for Aviation course and feedback from Mal Fraser, General Manager OACC, was overwhelmingly positive. He reports that the teacher "fitted in very well, was very enthusiastic and worked really hard to make sure all the courses were a success." They were "extremely happy with the results of the course."
The 100 graduating ATCOs, based in Muscat and Salalah, are part of a training program at the OACC in line with the Government of Oman's expansion of the Air Traffic Control facilities. Andy Carr, Managing Director, BAE Systems Oman, said "As part of BAE Systems' mandate to share knowledge and skills in the markets where it operates, BAE Systems is pleased to support Oman's aviation sector through our role at the Oman Aircraft Control College."
