REW is very proud of our diverse student nationality mix and our ability to support the non-English speaking community. We were very pleased to host two scholarship students from East Timor in August and September this year. Joanita De Fatima and Gizela De Carvalho (below) were awarded 10 week and five week tuition scholarships respectively, and studied REW’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
Both ladies have come to us under an agreement with the RMIT Globalism Research Centre as part of our engagement with RMIT University and its goals. The purpose of the scholarships is to enable East Timorese women to contribute in a more effective way to their communities. All women go back to their communities with an enhanced understanding of English and this allows them to operate more effectively in their roles.
