RMIT English Worldwide (REW) in conjunction with the King's Private Secretary Office in Thailand have supported the English language studies of a local Thai employee through a 10-week scholarship.
Kuibamrund Soraphong commenced the Advanced English Academic Passport course at REW in October last year.
His 10-week stay in Melbourne provided him the opportunity to experience Australia's culture and improve his English language skills.
"I really enjoyed my time in Melbourne, especially at REW," Mr Soraphong said.
"The cultural exchange with my classmates who came from many different countries was great. I felt very welcome in Melbourne, the locals are easygoing and the transport system made it easy to get around."
Mr Soraphong's scholarship included homestay accommodation, which he thoroughly recommended as it allowed him to practice his English at home after class with local people.
"I would highly recommend studying at REW to other Thai students," he said.
"The curriculum is really challenging and focuses on university study. It helps prepare you for life".
Mr Soraphong said the teachers at REW were helpful and active in the classroom.
"They concentrate on helping students develop all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and were available via email and in person if I had any problems."
Mr Soraphong has returned to Thailand, where he uses his improved English skills in his position at the King's Private Secretary Office. He is hoping to progress his career as a result of this experience.
REW is a division of RMIT Training, a company associated with RMIT University.
