A success story from an REW Aviation trainee

12 November 2010

Late last year, the REW Aviation team spoke with Mr Tom Wong who was in the process of applying for the pilot cadetship program with Cathy Pacific Airlines. Tom expressed interest in one-to-one tuition to improve his English language skills, which were preventing him from acceptance to the program.

Tom stressed that his top priority was to improve his listening and speaking to the level necessary for achieving the required score on Cathay Pacific’s in-house language proficiency test. Following further needs analysis, REW was able to design a tailored program that would meet his needs. The program was a success and Tom’s confidence in Aviation English and test-taking skills were much improved. We’re pleased to say that Tom is currently studying his cadetship in Sydney. Please read on to see Tom’s feedback about the training he received at REW.

"Being a pilot has been my dream since I was young and having a good proficiency in English is one of the indispensable areas for a pilot. In this area RMIT English Worldwide has helped me a lot. The training provided by RMIT not only gives me a good understanding of radiotelephony and aviation phraseology, but also improve my social English. The encouragement from the instructors improved my confidence to speak English and their friendly staff also helped me to decide on a unique training program to suit all my needs. Without RMIT English Worldwide and their professional training, my dream would not have come true."
