FAQs

Q: Will I be able to get a higher IELTS score if I take a preparation course?

Improvements are dependent on individual factors such as English level and effort, and clearly, the more effort you put into the course, the more benefit you will receive.

Q: Does the longer course produce a better result than the shorter ones?

The full time (longer) course consists of 125 hours of tuition compared with 20 hours in each of the two part time (shorter) courses. This provides considerably more classroom time, teacher contact and opportunity for skill development.

The longer course can also focus on areas of language development (eg. improving grammar) while the shorter courses focus on test preparation.

Q: Will I still be able to join the IELTS Prep 125 if my student visa is expiring soon?

Unlike the two part time courses, IELTS 125 is a NEAS-accredited course which means that you can study the course while on a student visa.

You may be able to extend your student visa or change over to a visitor visa, but you should check these details with DIAC or your consulate.

(NOTE : Anyone enrolling in the IELTS 125 course will be interviewed by our Student Services staff, so any queries can be cleared up during this process.)

Q: Is there a price discount if I book two 20 hour modules?

Absolutely. Candidates  pay $350 for one module or only $650 for two modules in 2008.

Q: What is the minimum score I need to enrol in an IELTS Advanced workshop?

This is a 10 hour course for advanced learners, We recommend a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 for entry..

Q: Is there a cut off date to apply for the courses?

Candidates are encouraged to book their course in advance because there is a high demand for places.

It is possible to apply for the courses up until the day they begin.

For the full time IELTS 125 course, you should apply by the Friday before a course begins because classes commence on Monday morning.

You can join any of the courses during the first week only, but any days missed will not be replaced and the full course fee is still applicable.

Q: Can I pay the fees by instalment?

No. Courses must be paid for in full up front.

Q: Can I use the ILC before the IELTS preparation classes start?

Unfortunately not. Candidates have full access to the ILC during business hours for the duration of their course but not before or after.

You can access the ILC from 8.45-4.45 from Monday to Friday and it is open till 6pm two days a week.

Q: If I join an IELTS preparation class, can I have internet access at REW?

Yes.  You are given a login which provides access to the internet in the Independent Learning Centre and the computer based IELTS materials.
