English for Academic Purposes

RMIT English Worldwide specialises in high quality English Language courses that prepare students for tertiary studies in English speaking universities. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs are offered at the Melbourne language centre and at our Partner sites.
Direct Entry to RMIT University
Students who successfully complete REW English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate and Advanced 2 levels do not need to sit for an IELTS or TOEFL test before they enter VET and Higher Ed courses at RMIT University.
EAP is taught across three levels at RMIT English Worldwide:
Upper Intermediate > Advanced 1 > Advanced 2
Module A – 125 hours* Module A – 125 hours* Single module
Module B – 125 hours* Module B – 125 hours* 125 hours*
* 100 hours per module of teacher-led instruction and 25 hours independent learning
The courses prepare students for study in an Australian academic context and have been designed to develop the academic skills required at University.
The program helps students to develop key skills in critical thinking, independent learning and active participation in an academic environment. Students learn how to write essays and reports, research and analyse information, give presentations, debate issues and prepare for the transition to university life.
Students will develop skills in:
- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in academic and general contexts
- Language structures and vocabulary
- Study and research
