Assessment for REW curriculum

RMIT English Worldwide uses both formal and informal tools to assess students' progress in English language courses.

Informal assessment includes regular homework and classroom activities to monitor the progress of each student throughout the course.

Formal assessment includes tests, ongoing assessment activities, essays, assignments and other planned activities. For most courses, assessments are scheduled at the following intervals:

  • During the course there are Ongoing Assessments; these are administered at various times during the course in the first and second modules.
  • At the end of the second module there is End of Course Assessment which usually takes the form of in-class tests.

The Ongoing Assessments (OA) and End of Course Assessment (EOC) assess the skills of Reading, Writing Listening and Speaking.
